Website Design

I’ve designed my site with the same approach I’ve always used. The content site map and structure essentially build themselves, if you have a good copy deck. Starting with wireframes is the most important and efficient manner to progress to avoid redesigning later. Whether working with a UX designer or building the wireframes myself, I focus on the nav structure and it's ability to be elastic.

Websites can be the first introduction to a brand, and that impression should be a positive experience. Once I set a structure and main navigation, I will populate a site with F.P.O content and make a prototype that works in tandem with design assets.I usually prototype sites in Adobe Muse. Muse helps create fully functional sites that I can host on my server, and continually update for client review and progress. This allows a direct feedback loop that informs site design. That said, there may be times when it makes sense to hand off certain assets to professional coders to accomplish more complicated elements on a site. Budget can dictates how deep the UI function develops, but simplicity always prevails when a coder can fix items that seem integral to the site's function. I’m a designer, not a coder and I know this.

User Interfaces

My favorite design projects always include user interface design for apps, software interfaces, and even web navs. I like to define the path and visual experience. I’ve always enjoyed UI, there is something inspiring about forging a new world of graphic data in cyberspace and pushing all the buttons and sliders.

Experiential Design is purely the logical joy of a journey.  I really like seeing how people navigate in almost any situation. There is no correct way, but there is always a better way. Sometimes that is the most efficient path. And other times it's the most intuitive path. But still there is room for the most interesting path.

Blue Shield California Plans

I've designed a lot of sites for Blue Shield over the past 5 years.  Here are a few scrolling pages. It may be easier to view them as they exist on the internet at the link below. These are ephemeral pages that adapt to brand and campaign messaging. So some headlines have changed and video may replace the photography at times.

Influx Insights

This is a rare project where it's starts with branding and that brand visual center is implemented into every aspect of Influx .Very homogeneous. It may be easier to visit the site link below and explore the design as it exists now on the web. This project had a blue sky creative brief and it started as a project where I designed a new logo and site every year until we arrived at the design below and we just built on this direction.

IBM Employee and Customer Experience

IBM invites clients and employees to attend a few sporting events (SuperBowl/ US Open/ Masters) each year. They arrange all accommodations and these were intranet mini sites, in room screens and kiosk Interfaces that provided all the information needed to navigate the VIP scene.

I worked with a coder on this and built the assets with him after we had approval on the concept for University booth with healthcare options. The mini quiz registered the students to receive plan options and special education fee reductions while getting them to think about healthcare. There were a few prompting animations to suggest actions.
